Former CIA Operative Valerie Plame Says She Was Outed for 'Political Reasons'

Friday, March 16, 2007

WASHINGTON — Former CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson told a congressional committee Friday that she believes she was outed in 2003 for "purely political reasons."

Plame, whose outing triggered a federal investigation, said she always knew her identity could be discovered by foreign governments but said she was surprised to be identified by her own government.

"My name and identity were carelessly and recklessly abused by senior official in White House and State Department," Plame testified before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. "I could no longer perform the work for which I had been highly trained."

Democrats are eager make political fodder out of the 2003 leak scandal but it's unlikely the hearing will offer any new information about the leak itself. Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., said that even though prosecutors brought no charges for the leak, questions remain about whether policies were followed.

"It's not our job to determine criminal culpability, but it is out job to determine what went wrong and insist on accountability," Waxman said as he opened hearings.

She was not outed by Libby or anyone else working for the President or Vice President. She was outed by Richard Armitage, who was a political leftist, and by a gang of leftist reporters.

And, of course, by her husband, who mentioned her name and CIA connection in his biography for Who's Who.

She was "outed" by herself, basically, when she chose her husband as a tool to attack the administration, and when the two of them then took it to the press. It's time somebody pointed these facts out. Or will the Republicans in this committee hearing lie low and keep quiet, as usual?

Most things in washington are political, especially when the media gets involved. It was and is a political fight about the war. Dems vs Repubs. It seems the left thinks that they are the only ones who can throw a punch and get away with it.

Oh yeah...they do get away with it.

But she wasn't outed. Their dirty tricks were found out.

How the hell does she know? She wasn't a Bush administration insider. So her opinion, like her life, is worthless. While the DemoCrites have started whining again about a "vast right wing conspiracy," they continue themselves to manufacture "scandals," including this political show of having the tramp Plame come to Capitol Hill as if she has anything other than partisan editorializing to offer in shedding light on anything. These two clowns, Joe and Valerie, need to go back under whatever rock they crawled out from under.

Moneypenny just got a movie deal with Warner Brothers.

A slam-dunk actress for her role would be Christina Applegate.

She was never "outed" at all. She simply whined for political reasons.

I would like to thank everyone for their forebearance in not posting a photo; every time I see a picture of this phony or her turd of a husband I want to go through the screen.

Republicans need to get with the program and have hearing after congressional hearing about nothing. God knows the Democrats have a target rich environment. Sandy Berger and William Jefferson come to mind.

The problem is, being in the minority they can't hold hearings other than unofficially. And then they'd have no subpoena power which would just make the whole thing and exercise in futility. The media would make them look like a bunch of desperate clowns trying to change the subject.

No, what we need are Republican voters, esp. some here on FR, to get with the program and stop saying "It doesn't matter who controls Congress" and to stop refusing to vote because they are mad. I was not happy with how the last Congress went, but I know it would seem like a dream compared to what we'd get if these vile extremist Democrats took over and now I and others who said the same thing are being proven right.

All this sh-t the Democrats are pulling from endless obsessive votes to cause us to lose in Iraq to issuing subpoenas on this non-scandal about the US attorneys to now calling this bimbo Plame up to come up to Capitol Hill and editorialize and pontifficate her partisanship (which is all that b-tch has to offer. She wasn't an administration insider) is happening because conservatives got played by the media into not voting because of Mark Foley or because of some lame absolutist mindset.

But this whole circus that the Democratic extremists have turned Congress into demonstrates aptly that indeed it does matter who controls Congress and that voting for imperfect Republicans is better than sitting back and enabling utterly craven Democrats.

If she was a secret operative who got outed, shouldn't she be laying low about now? Oh where, oh where are all the foreign assassins when you need them? Shouldn't they be shuffling her off to the witness protection program and shutting her the hell up by now? Please? We wouldn't want her to get hurt for goodness sake.

"The problem is, being in the minority they can't hold hearings other than unofficially."

Well, we had the majority and did nothing about Berger or Jefferson. To think the Democrats have this much traction in 4 and a half months is sickening. Did Republicans ever have a plan in 12 years besides having their panties led around by the minority?

-! Your post is dead on! Thanks.

"Republicans need to get with the program and have hearing after congressional hearing about nothing. God knows the Democrats have a target rich environment. Sandy Berger...."

That whole Sandy Berger thing MUST have some Republican complicity, at least as relates to whatever Berger was covering up when he snatched the documents. The reason I think this is because of the briefings that were given to the top democrats on the Intel/Military committees re wiretaps etc.....I believe that a few top repubs would have been privy to the clinton administrations machination regarding response or lack of response to what was known at the time (proof of which was removed from the archives by Berger, acting on Clintons behalf). I think that total exposure of whatever Berger absconded with would necessarily point the finger at a few repubs as well, and that for this reason, Berger and the whole matter got a pass.....just my guess, but I think the logic is sound.

Don't they usually take exposed agents and give them new names ands new lives, like a witness protection program?

Then the whole disgusting lot of them should have been prosecuted and removed from office. This "culture of corruption" has been festering on both sides for too long. Perhaps the only reason no-one barks too loudly is they don't want to be taking an early dirt nap.

Is this the former Soviet Union or the United States of America?
