December is based on the latin root for 10. It came from an earlier calendar. The fact that we use the name for the 12th month is immaterial to the definition.
You still can't face the definition for fetus, can you? Was that based on an earlier concept for UNBORN CHILD? Like "blob of useless flesh" -- or was it based on truth?

Precisely. And the same way, the Latin definition of fetus is utterly irrelevant.
