"Because Trent Lott (R) made a deal with Tom Daschle (D) to institute that ridiculous rule in the early part of this century."
But ya gotta admit, now that it's turned the table and works to the Dems' disadvantage, it's fun watching them seethe.

Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson both voted NO.
Good for them. Ben Nelson is my favorite Democrat!

It needs 60 votes for cloture.... Thanks for the info, jveritas! I should have remembered about stalling via the "debate" tactic. It's nice to think the Republicans have learned SOMETHING from the Democrats' tactics over the years.

Because Trent Lott (R) made a deal with Tom Daschle (D) to institute that ridiculous rule in the early part of this century.Oh, is that how that came about? Very interesting. Thanks for telling me. It adds to the things I've never liked about Trent Lott.

"It sure would be nice for MCCAIN to be around for a vote nowadays."
My opinion only.
Mclame is a write off.
He had his day in the sunshine, he turned his back on those Men that were still stuck in that SE Asian hellhole and he's actively sought to violate his oath of office.
As far as I'm concerned that jackass could disappear and this country would be far better off.

LOL...Ditto for me.
I just think that ANY candidate that is running FIRST has to take care of his "day job"...unless he wants to be a "man" like Bob Dole and give up his job in pursuit if the POTUS job.
