Mayor Giuliani, considered a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, says America needs to expand its military and pitched himself as the candidate who would instill fear in the Iranian president.
"What I can do is get things done, accomplish things," the former mayor told a crowd of about 1,000 supporters at a baseball-themed fund-raiser at the Sheraton in Midtown last night. "People said New York was ungovernable. We governed it and it became the best example of urban renaissance."
Saying he is "impatient and singled-minded" about his goals, he told the crowd that he'd bring the same focus to the White House to lower taxes, reduce spending, achieve energy independence, and improve international relations. He said the country needs a "bigger military" that can handle both large attack and "multiple complex limited actions," and said it was time to capture Osama bin Laden.
Mr. Giuliani was introduced by comedian Dennis Miller, who used at least one expletive when joking about the lack of trustworthy evidence to back up claims of global warming. In a performance that felt something like an HBO standup special, Mr. Miller also called two Democrats, including the speaker of the House of Representatives, "morons" and "inconsequential people who don't take the threat to our culture seriously."
"When you watch morons like Nancy Pelosi and David Obey of Wisconsin discussing our pullout from Iraq, the other day, they make like eight errors in four seconds," the comedian said ...

The Rudybots are the ones who want to turn this forum into DU . . . or worse. President Rudy and President Hillary would probably have almost identical policies (including policies on terror), but Rudy would make sure that conservatives were driven from the GOP for a long, long time again. We'd have Clinton Democrats and Rockefeller Republicans. No difference.
So if Rudy is nominated, I hope he is crushed, as I expect he will be, once people become aware of his bad character and his support for policies identical to those of the Dems. I expect the Clintons could make them very aware. Why, in opposition to a serial adulterer with a tough-guy persona, Hillary might come out looking like a compassionate Family Values candidate!
LOL! I wish I knew. I guess because we don't whine.
Anyone who openly admits they would vote for a Democrat belongs at DU.
Yes I believe you are correct about Mayor Beame. He did not march and I believe they made such a stink about it that after that all the other mayors did it.
Apparently that confusing post means you would vote for HIllary over Rudy. If that is true you are truly mad.
Less than ten even had a chance.
Let me help you! Hillary CLinton for President
Many of these clowns would happily go "ALL in" with no pairs, no flush, and no straight. I would love to play poker against them. All bluffing all the time.
I'll bump that.
Call me unconvinced.
President Rudy and President Hillary would probably have almost identical policies
Your obsession with gays is showing.
Dennis Miller did a great job on Leno's show approx. a month ago, cracking jokes with Leno, an obvious liberal, but Miller's repartee was spot on even with a lukewarm-sympathetic liberal audience.
The MSM would be all over any candidate who explicitly says what he's going to do in advance. (Remember the anti-Goldwater commercials with the mushroom cloud in the distance?)
People flock to Boston's North End Italian Feast Days honoring various saints from early June until the end of August....Now this Really is a tradition!!
Yup! There is a limit to what a candidate can say without getting hung out to dry.
I love Italian feasts! I go to the San Gennaro Festival here in NYC! I have to check the Boston one out!
As they do here for the feast of San Gennaro. Feasts are fun indeed.
Once again, Mr. Tough guy ex-mayor is going to smite the terrorists, but he doesn't have the guts to refuse to march in a parade with pedophiles.
