Based on his prior experience with the terrorists’ tactics and in light of the well-coordinated attacks against his Marines, it was evident to Chessani and others in the chain of command that the Marines were involved in a bona fide combat action that unfortunately resulted in the death of civilians. At the end of the day, the Marines did not choose the place to fight; the terrorist did, knowing that they would endanger the lives of civilians in the neighborhood, as they had done earlier in the year.

This is exactly right.

It is an utter disgrace that these Marines lives are being run through this....Disgraceful that they are being charged as they are.

I pray for a full acquittal. Which is exactly what needs to happen now that the ugly legal bureaucracy within the military has taken this course of action.

One can only wonder about those young ones that are considering joining the Army, Marines, or Navy with the expressed idea of becoming an infantry soldier, grunt, or say a SEAL, as how they will think once they learn what the hell is going on. The damage being done to both the individuals, their families, and our military serving in harms way is really very real, as many of us realize.
I have lost so much respect for the JAG and the NCIS that it is not even funny. I assume the right thing for general Mattis to do is stay out of the picture until a point is reached where he says no court martials or any form of current punishment will not be carried out and stopped.
One does not want anyone thinking justice is not being served, but in this case the only course for justice to be served will be for all these Marines to walk free.
At most a few hundred perhaps less, Iraqi even give the least shit as how the case would turn out. As our Soldiers and Marines free them all from all the killers they only want us to stay in their country. This whole thing is a total travesty at best, and really fringes on the criminal IMHO.
