There is more going on in Mexico than we know. President Bush is building a relationship with the new Mexican President, Felipe Calderon who won his presidency by a narrow margin against Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Calderon has great opposition in Mexico. Mexico is vulnerable to destabilization by outside Marxist states like Cuba and Venezuelia. There is a threat of revolution. This is why President Bush is lending his support for the Mexican people.

I think you are correct and it is something most people never think of. The US is Mexico's escape valve, without us there would be a revolution in Mexico and we would end up with a communist government on our southern border. I can't think of anything worse than that.
