Wait. Last year, the warming Pacific was going to cause the entire Eastern Seaboard to be immolated by hurricanes. This year, it's the opposite. Do these guys get paid bonuses for hyperbole?

Actually they do. Their pay is based on ratings. Which statement is likely to get more viewers: "Weather is going to be same old same" or "Disaster, we're all going to die!"
