Giuliani is the preferred candidate for 34 percent of likely Republican voters, according to the poll. Giuliani has a double-digit lead over his nearest rival, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who is the choice candidate for 18 percent of potential Republican voters.
Conservative endorsements
In a move to attract conservatives skeptical of his position on social issues such as gun control, abortion rights and same-sex civil unions, Giuliani's campaign Monday announced endorsements from Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, and former Solicitor General Ted Olson.
"Obviously, I disagree with Rudy on some significant social issues, and these are very important to me and to many people I represent," said Vitter, a vocal opponent of abortion, gay marriage and gun control.
"But after numerous personal meetings with the mayor, it's very clear to me that he's not running for president to advance any liberal social agenda," he said.
Olson, who served with Giuliani in the Reagan Justice Department, said he believes the former mayor "will appoint the kind of judges that we expect in this country -- people that respect the rule of law and the role of judges and who interpret the laws and interpret the Constitution, instead of judges who want to make policy."

Thompson would also not get the nomination and if he did, Hillary would beat him like a drum.

"Thompson would also not get the nomination and if he did, Hillary would beat him like a drum."Whatever. If Giuliani runs against Hillery, or Obama, you can pray that democrats change their opinioin on the war and civil rights, to join the country clubbers.

"Rudy CAN beat Hillary." At what -- a fist-fight?
How the definitive antithesis of the traditional adherent of the GOP Party Platform -- Rudy Guiliani -- would beat Hillary Clinton would be MORE shocking news than a UFO landing on the White House lawn.
To: narses
Rudy is indicted by a slew of clearly pronounced liberal positions as you've illustrated.
He has the talent of DE-energizing real conservatives and thus driving a good 20% of the probable GOP voters into the ozone layer.

Ah ha! You're rooting for Hillary I see. You know, FO, you're sending some mixed signals in your various posts on different threads tonight. It's late. I think you need to get some sleep and try again tomorrow.

Sorry, but supporting Rudy in the primary disqualifies one from being legitimately described as a "conservative."
So true. When you pick the most liberal candidate when given other credible choices, how can you actually be a conservative in any sense of the word?

Hillary will make mincemeat out of Rudy. She will turn the women against him but reminding everyone about the restraining order against Rudy's mistress while he was still married.
Hillary is after the single-women vote big time. And the libmedia is just waiting with all those videos of him parading his sluts around NYC publicly while his family was at home in Gracie Mansion.
They're just waiting for the right time.

"Jeb Bush did everything possible to save Terri. "
Yeah? I would have sent in the national guard, or gone in and reattached the tubes myself. From out here, it looked like he went through the legal motions and then, when they failed, shrugged, went out and played golf while one of the people of HIS state was starved to death by governmental decree.
I wouldn't vote for Jeb Bush for dogcatcher. In fact, based on the performance of the two previous Bush's, I wouldn't vote for him for dogcatcher, either.
To: My GOP; LdSentinal
Huh? Jeb hasn't officially endorsed anybody. And neither have any of the Bush family.
Jeb has been promoting him to other governors and state leaders, key to getting support in state organizations. This is part of how W. sewed up the nomination so early.
Hugh Hewitt was discussing this last night, how many key Bush people were moving in Romney's direction. Hewitt speculated that Jeb would be Romney's running mate.

Besides, I'll take Hitlery over Rudy. If I must have a choice between Liberals, why not take the one who'll give me "free" stuff?
You think socialism is about getting free stuff? Maybe you need to go to North Korea.

Maybe those issues aren't as important as he's lead many to believe in the past and he's really not abandoning these principles at all. You may be right.

If you really said you'd vote for Hitlary over Rudy - as quoted earlier by Fair Opinion, you need to go to 'time out' and not post for a while as you ponder your mental breakdown.
