Not exactly the butt kicking promised on Drudge and another thread here on FR but overall a more balanced treatment than one has a right to expect from the NYT. However, the bottom line is that the last word in the piece still says Gore has it basically right.

Yah, or else people will actually LOOK INTO this... and discover that we have NO serious scientists, NO peer-reviewed articles, NO EVIDENCE PERIOD that the weather CARES about what we do... let's just keep this cool (pardon the pun..)

Some backers concede minor inaccuracies but see them as reasonable for a politician. Unless that politician were to have been a Republican, then it would have been "LIER!!!!! IMPEACH!!!!!"

Global Warming is just the latest Sky-Is-Falling horse hockey from the Chicken Little brigade. I'm too bored to even yawn.

The degree of scientific consensus on global warming has never been stronger, Perhaps as high as "90% likely."

They have "peer-reviewed" papers. We've just found that they used significantly altered definitions of "peer-reviewed" - ones in which no one actually checks the work.

Gore is a potential 2008 Presidential candidate. The NYT is trying to take some wind out of his sails.
Orders from Hillary....

Still, Dr. Hansen said, the former vice presidents work may hold imperfections and technical flaws. One of these "imperfections" and "technical flaws" was pointed out in the British Channel 4 documentary, "The Great Global Warming Swindle": Gore's central thesis is that we create CO2 which causes the oceans to warm up; the documentary pointed out that the opposite is true: the oceans warm up (caused, get this, by the SUN), and release CO2. So Gore's "technical flaw" is that he has it exactly backwards. The NYSlimes is trying to soft-pedal the fact there is no scientific "consensus" (assuming such a thing exists) on this by pointing a few gentlemanly opponents to the ChurchofAlgore.

On balance, he did quite well a credible and entertaining job on a difficult subject, Dr. Oppenheimer said. For that, he deserves a lot of credit. If you rake him over the coals, youre going to find people who disagree. But in terms of the big picture, he got it right. In other words, Dr. Oppenheimer is a strong advocate of the "fake but accurate" standard...

The truth, he said, was that virtually all unbiased scientists agreed that humans were the main culprits. I have to wonder by what criteria one knows an 'unbiased' scientist. Is it one that agrees with you?
