NOTE: THE LINK CONTAINS NON-MSM APPROVED LANGUAGE TAUGHT IN THE LAUSD SCHOOL SYSTEM...(but its a funny article...word!)
Its not unusual for a top-10 list to cause controversy. Top 10 movies of all time. Top 10 restaurants in the country. But recently the Los Angeles Police Department and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced with great fanfare a top-11 list of the worst and most violent gangs in the area. While movie buffs and foodies might lightheartedly argue their cases in bars and cafés, the LAPD list is being scorned and laughed at on gang corners, in patrol cars and in squad rooms.
When asked about the top-11 list, one Los Angeles officer and expert on gangs said, Its laughable. There was pressure from the [brass] to get out the list, but they didnt ask the right people. They didnt ask or listen to the experts.
The lead homicide detective of LAPDs deadly Southeast Division found the list odd. I cant imagine that those are the worst gangs in the city, said Detective Sal LaBarbera.
Southeast Division and neighboring 77th Street Division suffered 136 homicides in 2006, representing more than 28 percent of all killings in Los Angeles. Yet only two gangs from Southeast and 77th got onto the apparently geographically and politically correct list Grape Street Crips and Rollin 60s Crips.
Its a bunch of bull****, said Antony Set Trip Johnson, 17, a gang member with the Five Deuce Hoover, a subset of the notorious Hoover Criminals. We should be on that list. F* it. We the most hated gang in Los Angeles.

Sounds like most of their murders involve grammar.
listen stooopid... when you're #2, you have to try harder!!!
Oh great, another one of Tony Villar's genius moves. Now we'll have a competition between the gangs to achieve the 'honor' of being on the list. Does this clown give any thought to what he's doing, or is he too focussed to taking over the schools and running for Governor to care?
This is why I ran out of Los Angeles as fast as I could. It was not the gangs, it was the writing.
I live in a small city in Tennessee. If you have a TOP 11 List of gangs I must assume LA has more than 11 gangs.
How can a city be safe for it's citizens with all these gangs shooting up the city.
Why don't they call in the National Guard and eliminate all gangs? Just a bunch of low life hoodlums.
Response: Not PC. Besides such action would require strength of character.
LOL. The post I've been looking for all night. Thanks for the laugh.
"My list goes up to 11"
Cosby had it right when he said you can't expect to be taken seriously when you speak this way.
