"Most of our oil comes from the middle east?" Technically untrue, but oil is fungible. Cut off Middle East oil and the price of oil from other sources will be bid to $8 a gallon within 72 hours.
There's an interesting article in the industry's The Oil Drum that argues Saudi Arabia is already past its production peak and is scrambling to keep it's production from collapsing. Deployment of rigs has tripled while actual production has steadily fallen by 8% over the past 2 years. On the one hand, good....on the other hand.....chaos.
