Rudy's street crime unit saved the city. Many were not happy with his stop and frisk. He also confiscated the cars of drunk drivers. This did not stand up in Court, but in the meantime, the drunk driving murders declined considerably.

That stop and frisk was abolished by Blooming-idiot and the city is now reverting to Dinkins Time.

What the answer is, I don't know. I do know that working in the city for decades showed up what a really tough SOB could do to govern an ungovernable city rife with crime.

re: WRMC
Amen, did my knee perfectly.

You can forget about Clinton being brought up too much, I guess Webb is there to lend 'credibility' to the situation and slide his Reagan wanted to cut the Navy meme.

Funny how all the members of the Armed Services Comm. now say they tried and they failed. If they really want to see something, check the attendance and the briefings set up for them... that they didn't attend.

They also will not mention the two year holdup on HR76 as backmail for their 'pet' projects.

When will someone get a spine a craft legislation for the troops, VA and medical care alone?

Do you know how many earmarks and special interest gimmes are on there? From levees to peanut industry... you name it. They dangle it to be knocked down and scream 'he' doesn't care about the troops cause he didn't sign it.

Meanwhile... from the cave, the spineless representives on the hill are saying nothing and they should have ten bills on the floor as well (I know, time factor). I tell you what, the libs wouldn't get anything for their states until they passed ONLY the appropriations the troops need over there and here on a narrow bill.

Those states who like to protest as tanks are shipped out, whose governors, representatives (who usually have hands in defense contracting and aerospace big time, see Murtha, Pelosi and others), would have a rude awakening re: funding for their states re: illegals or anything else.
Time for W and the reps to put the hammer down.

Even Imus didn't let Schumer get off:

Kabar, you just don't get it.

The dems have always gone after GW for any old reason and always will!

If they don't have something current to use they make it up,it's actually starting to work to our advantage since anytime you do anything too much people start getting suspect and suspicious. More and more voters should and may start to realize just what complete phonies they truly are.(and we will help them to realize it here in the New Media.)

Indeed, Kopel was right on today. Also explained when the war on terror began 25 years ago, but that we didn't recognize it. Choose to acknowledge it would be more correct, but close enough Ted.

If Rudy had an issue with Ray Kelly, Rudy has problems. Seriously.

It is worth looking at what little information there is out there to find out who has the best combination of ideas and skills to be the next leader.

Whoever is going to be the next R candidate should have to work to win us over IMHO.

If I remember right the list was on the communist party of the USA website.

This isn't new either. Now we know the claims of communists working with FDR was true. Now we know the McCarthy investigations were legitimate. Now we know the position held by conservatives from Reagan to Nixon were all correct. The left/communists did, indeed, work to infiltrate the Democrat party and use what pressure they could to sway Democrats.

The left does not like to use the words communist or communism anymore, but that's what they are supporting and proposing.

Hillary would throw a lamp at anyone who used the word but what else can one call it when she says she is going to take from those who can afford it to give to those who cannot? One could claim it's more socialistic than communistic, but taken in context of the other plans Democrats have the distinction minor. Dr. Sowell iw correct, they believe they are the anointed class destined to rule over the masses.

Not so sure there were quite a few "conservatives" who were anti Libby over Marc Rich.

I guess I am one of them. Libby's calling Rich to congratuate him on the pardon while the VP's Chief of Staff was a major mistake and his testimony before Congress on the matter was pitiful. That said, I am for a pardon after the 2008 elections.

"Time for W and the reps to put the hammer down."

I agree completely.

I just hope they actually do it and not cave to the harassment of the DBM.

He has already faced Hillary during the Watergate years so he has known her for a number of years. Hope his FBI file is clean. If Newt doesn't run, I hope Fred does. Always liked him, as a Senator and an actor.

Senator Thompson is 64 years old. He would be a 66 year old President.

Ronald Reagan was about 30 days short of his 70th Birthday when sworn in as President in Jan 1981.

I'm glad she's gone too. I had to mute my TV every time she ran her motor mouth. She thought she was the queen of Fox & Friends and tried to monopolize the whole show.

any predictions on hurricane season?

It's funny, your post just reminded me of the fact that about this time last year, the media was having orgasms about how 2006 was going to be the worst hurricane season the earth had ever seen, and we'd be fortunate if there was a single city left standing on the East Coast by October. They've been rather quiet about it so far this year; do you suppose it's because they're chagrined by the fact that they got last year so wrong, or is it because there's no election this year?

Why does something tell me that 2008 will be trumpeted as the worst hurricane season the earth has ever seen, and that we'll be lucky if any East Coast cities, or Midwest cities (gotta factor in global warming, after all) are still standing in October?

You know...some House or Senate Republicans MIGHT speak up...but you might never hear about it.

There are reporters in the halls of the House and Senate all of the time...and they get interviews.

However, whether the TV stations, even C-span, choose to show them, is another matter.

Add not vetoing McCain-Feingold even though he said he believed it was not constitutional.

Paula Deen is a big Food Network star here in the states.

You bet. Our daughter is getting married in Savannah, the location of Paula Deen's Restaurant (The Lady and Sons) and we are having the rehearsal dinner there.

I have eaten there before and cannot wait to do so again. Excellent Southern food. Fried chicken that makes you want to never leave.

I'll shut up now.
