Why Rudy?

For the moment, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani sits on double-digit leads over the rest of the Republican presidential-hopeful pack in several national polls.
Why?
"It appears to me that Rudy is going aggressively after the conservative vote," says Pennsylvania Republican and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum. "He has not ceded that ground to anybody."
Santorum, known nationally for his social conservatism, says Giuliani does a good job of reminding people how he governed as a conservative on crime, welfare and taxes in New York City.
Santorum also believes Giuliani has scored points on social issues with his comments about judges and Supreme Court justices.
"Rudy understands that, on those issues, the courts are where conservatives have been losing the battle," he says. "If he is going to be appointing judges in the Scalia-Thomas (mold), then he is sending a very positive message to conservatives that he understands the importance of having the Constitution interpreted for what it says and not for what people want it to be."

Take your monitor into your bathroom so you can read it in the mirror, ok?
While I understand the similarities, I really won't be thinking of you in the bathroom.
Not even if I dress up in drag like Rudy? ;) LOL

Take a good look at photos of Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo. Don't they both look like the guy who sold your aunt that used Chevy lemon? I'll go even further. Look at all those photos and you will hard pressed to find a smile. Americans invariably choose an optimistic candidate when they vote. Someone who offers hope. Example, Reagan vs Carter (Reagan the most optimistic guy you can imagine with a big smile; Carter dour as hell as he blames the American people for the "malaise" in the country).

"Seriesly, what better way is there to discuss the merits or lack thereof about candidates on a thread about one? What do you want, some Rudy cheerleader threads, some Hunter cheerleader threads, and no debate about the relative merits?"
That's exactly what they want. One of the Rudybots said to someone on a pro-Rudy thread last week "go back to your Duncan Hunter thread and leave us alone!" They prefer to have their Kool-aid parties with only like minded liberals. These people want their pro-Rudy threads all to themselves. When a thread was posted a few days ago about Rudy not joining in on the first debates there was hardly a Rudybot in sight. I wonder why?

It won't make a nickel's worth of difference who wins.
Talking point FOR the hillary camp! Translation - ANYBODY but RUDY, Hillary's biggest threat - tell them ALL, 'we're the same'! Push it hard and push it OFTEN!!
I have voted Republican for 30 years.
That's been overplayed - a talking point from way back. I guess your hoping for new eyes to see it. "I have been a republican ALL MY LIFE but........". Surely, you hear that, ad nauseam, on CSPAN and radio call-ins. YAWN :0

"the sensible Freepers (IMHO)" Lots of rabid wandbagoneers...
I like objectivity and objectively Rudy's only significant positive is his current poll numbers.
Of course there are steps he can take to offset his negatives, but ignoring them isn't going to work. Irrationality often overrides objectivity in an election but a year is a long time to ignore facts.

And your OBSESSION with Rudy speaks for you! Hillary's obsessed with Rudy, also. He's her barricade to the WH! She appreciates YOUR support.

But Hunter and Tancredo-- their supporters must be smoking weed or something. They have as much of a chance of winning as Alan Keyes would.Ain't that the truth. :)
On the other hand, I was an Arizona resident in 2000, and had the choices of Bush, McCain and Keyes in our primary. I didn't think Bush was conservative enough, and knew McCain well enough to know that he was a bit of a megalomaniac, so I voted Keyes on principle. However, when Bush won the nomination, I supported him wholeheartedly in the general.
Support whomever you want in the primary, but in the end, we need to join hands and support the Repub nominee, since he will by definition be head and shoulders against whomever the 'rats put out there.
All this rancor amongst ourselves is stoopid and simply enables the true enemies of freedom, i.e., the 'rats.
Oh, and I've been here since 02-1998, if that means anything.

Very much like a democrat you are.

No, because Keyes never got the nomination, unlike the RINOs Ford and Dole, who LOST. Keyes demonstrated his vote getting appeal in the two Senatorial races he LOST. The second one in Illinois will go down as a classic. Every time Keyes opened his mouth, his approval ratings plummeted. Surprise. Surprise.
