Why Rudy?
Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | March 10, 2007 | Salena Zito

Posted on 03/10/2007 5:42:54 AM PST by veronica

For the moment, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani sits on double-digit leads over the rest of the Republican presidential-hopeful pack in several national polls.

Why?

"It appears to me that Rudy is going aggressively after the conservative vote," says Pennsylvania Republican and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum. "He has not ceded that ground to anybody."

Santorum, known nationally for his social conservatism, says Giuliani does a good job of reminding people how he governed as a conservative on crime, welfare and taxes in New York City.

Santorum also believes Giuliani has scored points on social issues with his comments about judges and Supreme Court justices.

"Rudy understands that, on those issues, the courts are where conservatives have been losing the battle," he says. "If he is going to be appointing judges in the Scalia-Thomas (mold), then he is sending a very positive message to conservatives that he understands the importance of having the Constitution interpreted for what it says and not for what people want it to be."

The anti-Rudy crowd here reminds me of a bunch of democRATS.
You're not getting what you wanted, so instead of arguing your points you insult Rudy's backers here with a bunch of juvenile one-liners, call people names, and post the same visual SPAM, over and over again.

I don't agree with Rudy's social positions - not AT ALL, but I'm supporting him (right now, at least) because he has a proven record of accomplishing things, has the courage to stand up to the Terrorists (and their allies, the democratic party) and doesn't come off like a shallow, pandering POS like most other politicians on both sides of the aisle.

You guys don't like that? Fine! I respect your views and I'm willing to listen to your arguments - but your infantile insults, both to Rudy and to those of us here who support him, make you come off as nothing more than the right-wing equivilant of the clowns at DU.

I hope he runs. He's a far more realistic choice than Duncan Donuts.

"Peach is no troll. She's been here since 1998.
And she hasn't said anything here she wouldn't (or hasn't already) say directly to Jim."

Urbandictionary.com in it's many definitions of a troll says this:

"One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue."

A person is not immune to being a troll just because they've been here since 1998. The shoe fits.

Yeah because TIME is the publication I trust to tell me what is important in the world. Go figure, the MSM picks a big LIB as person of the year. This isn't a good selling point for him on FR.

Aonother gun control supporter! He won 2x so he must be double plus good!

"Freedom is about authority,Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it." - Deng Xiaoping. Oops! Rudy actually said that. My bad!

It's ok. :)

I'm going to work hard to support my candidate & I know you will do the same for yours. God bless America, where we have the freedom to do so. One thing I think we all have in common is that we want the best for our country.

I do think it's just too early to have to endure these kinds of battles on a daily basis. I don't know about you, but it wears me down & isn't fun anymore.

I guess it's true what they say, "Politics are like sausage - you don't want to watch either being made."

Oh well then, since you're going to the authoritative sources.

Peach is no troll. Deal with it.

Besides, Mojave's point was that Peach didn't ping the "target" of her comments, and that was what made her a troll.

Something both of you have now done.

Go tell Jim Robinson he's a clown. Oh, wait a minute--you just did!

A perfect description of the anti-Rudy obsessives who come on every thread, insult the other side, and post the same stupid photos they have been posting since day one.

Congrats. You folks have managed to compare Rudy to Hitler AND David Duke

Don't you start lying again Veronica, I never compared Rudy to David Duke, and you know damn well I didn't. In case your memory is really that faulty, YOU are the one who uttered this inane statement:

"I'll support my choice, but in the end, I won't be part of inflicting a Democrat on the American people. On election day, I'll vote GOP, no matter what."

Or did you forget your own words so soon? Promising to vote for the GOP nominee, 'no matter what' is the same mentality, the EXACT SAME mentality that led to millions of Germans voting for their infamous Chancellor Hitler on March 5, 1933, granting him authority for the notorious 'Enabling Act'.

You need to bone up on your history girl.

'Those who fail to remember the past, are condemned to repeat it'.

You HAVE heard that saying haven't you?

It's fascinating to watch and shows me just how far out of the political mainstream these freepers are.

Yeah, because being pro-abortion, pro-gun control, and pro-homosexual perverted lifestyle is the mainstream now.

Let's just disregard that little statement by the founder of FR about this being a conservative website and it opposes most of the issues that Rudy supports.

No, because Keyes never got the nomination, unlike the RINOs Ford and Dole, who LOST.
Did you do graduate work in missing the point?

No, I generally get the point, unless there is no point being made at all, i.e., your inane and irrelevant 'Keyes' remark.

Why Rudy? There is no other viable candidate at the present time. It all comes down to alternatives.

She isn't the target of my comment--you are. I was clearing up your false statement that she is no troll just because she's been here since 1998. Being here since the beginning does not make one immune from being a troll. That is the truth--deal with it!

You'll likley not ever see a true conservative in the WH again

Stop engaging in self-fulfulling prophecies

Rudy is the only shot we have at the WH.

And the other candidates are chopped liver? Why support Rudy now? Are the primaries over already?
