I think there would be a lot more Republicans stepping up if we felt that we had a conservative President to support. But sadly, we don't.

I don't think you can give President Bush that much blame.  Lord knows, the left has blamed him for every sort of nonsense since he stepped into the Oval Office.

Who cares if President Bush is not conservative enough?  I don't.  He didnt't seek the office of POTUS running as one.

The reason Republican's aren't stepping up to bat is because most of them are gutless.  They never miss an opportunity to cower and kow-tow to the left, even when the Republicans were in the majority.

Has nothing to do with how  conservative President Bush is.  The President has gone to bat plenty of times for the Republicans.  I just don't think he's done enough to secure our borders, but that's no reason to rake him over the coals over.  Their are plenty of gutless wonders in Congress who haven't done enough to secure our borders either.

I should have been more alert when he ran in 2000 as a "compassionate conservative".

In retrospect, I should have realized when a presidential candidate uses these words, it means "Hide the checkbook!"

Of course, I had to vote for him, considering the fact that Gore was a million times worse. But I'm not going to roll over in 2008 and give Giuliani the Liberal my vote, even if the alternative is Hillary. I've gone third party before, I'll go third party again.
