Politics is the art of compromise.

Much like bartering, you set your price high, knowing full well that there will be negotiations and dickering involved, to get to a place that both parties can agree upon.

Now, let's use that scenario on the current Republican primary race. Where do we, as a Party, set our price?

Do we ask for as many things as we believe in from a candidate, and set the price high?

Or do we set our sights low, notcaringwhat we get, but only interested in selling (out)?

Either way, there will be a compromised settlement, and the man who carries our banner will carry with him whatever we insist on getting in the deal.

With Rudy, we're selling ourselves cheap, giving away our core principles just to close the deal.

Before the bidding has even begun!

I agree. I wouldn't settle for Rudy in the primaries.

Good points.

Politics is the art of compromise.
***The word for politics comes from the same word as Polite. Team rudy is not very polite. In particular they're pushing their solib candidate on this socon forum and using straw arguments and false dilemma reasoning. When I called it the height of imposition, one rudybot just got all upset, pinged the rest of the team and said, "look at this piece of work". There is no real substance to their positions other than poll results, and when we point out that Dean had great early poll results, we get crickets.
