The fetus at 20 weeks gestation "is fully capable of experiencing pain. … Without question, all of this is a dreadfully painful experience for any infant subjected to such a surgical procedure." — Robert J. White, M.D., PhD., professor of neurosurgery at Case Western University, Cleveland, Ohio, in testimony before the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Committee on the Judiciary, U.S. House of Representatives, March 21, 1996

I live in the Bible belt there's nothing that your going to post here that I haven't heard before.

Not to hijack this thread, nor that you will understand this snippet of my life, but heres a contemporaneous story that other may understand...

I was driving down a main street in a medium-sized Texas town today and passed a statue in front of a KofC building that was massive. This statue was made of steel and had four huge 3D fetuses with umbilical cords hovering in four wombs. To say the least I found it a bit odd and distasteful. As I continued down the road I noticed many Burma Shave type signs throughout the town with two hands, fingers touching, and a child dangling from the umbilical cord below where the fingers joined.

A few blocks further I decided to stop at a Walmart to see if I could find a pellet gun to kill some vermin around the ranch. On the way inside there were a bunch of teenagers. They had a table setup with homemade crucifixes and similar material. I asked them what they were doing and they said they were raising money to go out on a mission and preach to people. They asked if I wanted to buy something and I said 'no' but I'd be happy to donate some money to help them achieve their goal. Which I did.

What's the moral of this story? To me it's that even though I did not share their view of the world I respected their right to believe whatever they liked. That's the difference between people respect other's views and can accept people living their life the way they choose and people who think their way is the only way.
