Men behaved better when women behaved better. Men behaved more like gentlemen when women behaved more like ladies.
I'm not into nostalgia. People have always acted like people. Sometimes in history they have been better mannered than others. Some times much, much worse.
And, I like Dr. Laura, so no screeds here. I don't always agree with her, but she is a refreshing voice of (mostly) reason in an irrational world.
This is very true. At the very least, men behave much better when women place more (reasonable) demands on their conduct. If women place no (or low) demands on men, men will tend to meet those low (or no) demands. :-)
