Bush should have had this policy of no mercy, no prisioners instead of the current one. He would have avoided lots of problems.

FALSE ALARM ..... again

Iraqi forces captured the man during a raid in Baghdad
A man described as a "senior leader" of an al-Qaeda-linked insurgent group has been arrested in Iraq, according to an Iraqi military spokesman.
The man was captured on Friday in a raid in Baghdad's Abu Ghraib district, spokesman Qassim Moussawi said.

Earlier reports had suggested that the man was Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the self-styled leader of the Sunni Arab group the Islamic State in Iraq.

But Mr Moussawi confirmed that this was not the case.

"We captured a figure who was a senior al-Qaeda member and we suspected that he was Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, but after initial investigations it was proven it was not Abu Omar al-Baghdadi," he said.

Baghdadi heads an umbrella group of Sunni insurgent movements fighting the Iraqi government and US troops in Iraq.

His group is believed to be behind a series of attacks in Iraq, including the kidnapping and murder of at least 18 police officers last week.

Security sources said he was also among militants who stormed a prison near the northern city of Mosul, freeing some 140 prisoners.

Security Forces Deny al-Baghdadi Capture
"Senior leader" in Custody, but Not Abu Omar
Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was not apprehended in a recent raid near Abu Ghraib west of Baghdad, contrary to earlier reports.

The BBC reports that a "senior leader" of an al-Qa'ida related group had been captured, but that this man was not al-Baghdadi. The senior leader is not identified in the BBC report.

Earlier reports had claimed that al-Baghdadi

>>>They temporarily put down their weapons and dissolved into the population.<<

Agreed. When it was first announced that Mookie had fled to Iran and violence was diminished, I commented that his thugs were sitting in Baghdad's street cafes, in street clothes rather than all-black, sipping sweet tea, and watching the Petraeus's surge from the sidelines.

Hopefully we had some pretty good intell prior to going in on where to find some of al Sadr's and al Qaeda's top leaders...and that appears to be the case.

Will we get 'em all? Nope. Will we stop the recruiting of new ones? Nope. Should we target Mookie with a bullet or a noose? Yep.

The point of my post is still valid. Iraqi violence is down, but since the surge: Democrat on Democrat violence is up 80%

Funny how the BBC keeps leaving out the phrase, "almost of whom were recaptured within hours" from its stories on the prison break.

Well... no... I guess it isn't.
