Finally someone says this. Let's get back to making our form of government work the way it is supposed to work. Push the self-appointed elites aside.

"The conservative movement is not supposed to choose a candidate; it's supposed to produce one." It is my contention that Duncan Hunter is a product of the conservative movement.
A combat veteran who raised a combat veteran.
A man who took Reagan's conservative ideas and improved on them.
The conservative movement has created several candidates. But the dinosaur GOP blue blood country clubbers ignore them.
Look at Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania. Look what the GOP did to him (and us).

And this author is just now figuring this out?? And since there is virtually no functional leadership in the GOP, how do we "train" a candidate? IMHO, conservatives are BORN and raised conservative...not allowing them to venture into the liberal indoctrination camps unprepared. You get a conservative out of that process NATURALLY and the ones that succeed as such, are not seduced by the short-term socialist power offerings of the left. Sadly many do suffer that seduction -- we call them RINOs.

Oh no. No can do. He's too much of a constitutionist (or should it be constitutionalist?) At any rate, he's the number one conservative that Republicans love to hate.
To: abigailsmybaby
He's right on the Constitution, and that's my main issue. I think he would actually reverse the damage to the Constitution. Other candidates would only make it worse at different rates.

The conservative movement does produce candidates. Trouble is, of late the RNC has been an impediment to such candidates, not a hand-up. Pat Toomey, Bret Schundler, and Katherine Harris are three that I can think of off the top of my head who were done in by the party as much as by the Democrats.
Until someone can go in and clean out the nest of vipers that the RNC has become, the GOP will continue to nuke conservatives before they hit the big time and put forward panty-wearing liberals instead.
A shake up is needed, BIG TIME!
