No the hurricanes destroyed Fl. The rate hikes is what it cost to spread the risk of Millions of homes built next to the sea destroyed every other month. The amount of loss dollars paid will not change. You will now pay the government instead of the insurance company. I am sure they will do a great job of paying your claim.
Do you think insurance companies are pulling out because they made millions???????????

Insurance companies are so heavily regulated that they are practically an extension of the government already. The state of Florida is giving them a discounted reinsurance and the savings must be passed on to customers. Citizens Insurance is owned by the state and it does have poor service, but it is the insurer of last resort.
