They don't see the big picture. I understand their concern on social issues, we all have them, but this time around they aren't most peoples top priority.

Ahem, the 'big picture' is to keep all the top issues - national security, small-govt & freedom, values/family/social issues - in mind.

To exclude *any* of them as a factor is small-minded and non-big-picture.
