Rep. Peter King Endorses Giuliani

Rep. Peter King Endorses Giuliani

Rep. Peter King (R-NY), former Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has endorsed former Mayor Rudy Giuliani for President in 2008, according to the New York Daily News.

This is newsworthy because King co-chaired Sen. John McCain's New York campaign in 2000.

FROM THE NY DAILY NEWS:

Rudy Giuliani has wooed Rep. Peter King away from Sen. John McCain. King co-chaired McCain's New York campaign in the 2000 White House race, but the Long Island congressman says he'll now be lining up other House members for Giuliani. The ranking Republican on the Homeland Security Committee tells us he thinks Giuliani is "best qualified to fight terrorism." Giuliani and King got to know each other while serving as summer legal interns. "We'd both ride the Long Island Rail Road into Manhattan," recalls King. "Last Friday, we took Amtrak down to D.C. for a conservative conference. I said to myself, 'Forty years later, and I'm still riding the train with Rudy."

Ranking member of Homeland Security endorses Rudy.

National security is the prime issue in this war brought by the Seventh-Century death cult.

Reagan appointed one pro-choice justice. That was J. O'Conner and it was on bad advice from Meese and Schultz.

I've told you this before, but you keep ignoring the historic facts and instead post falsehoods.

Anthony Kennedy was pro-life when Reagan nominated him. He received endorsements from ever major right to life group in the nation. After several years on the high court, J.Kennedy switched and became pro-choice.

No POTUS, including Reagan could have known how their appointments will turn out after 10-20 years. Eisenhower wasn't satisfied with Earl Warren, Nixon wasn't satisfied with Warren Burger and Bush41 wasn't satisfied with David Souter.

At this point in time, no one knows how CJ Roberts and J. Alito will turn out after 10-20 years on the SCOTUS.

If Arlen Specter and Ted Kennedy hadn't fought Reagan on Robert Bork and won that battle, Roe v Wade might have been overturned by today.

That is nonsense. The Reagan agenda from the 1980`s is what conservatives want the GOP to get back to.

The only FReeper who ever Reagan a RINO that I know of, was Common Tator. And he's retired from FR.

...I was being facetious....and from your post I can tell you are passionate and intelligent....but there are a few, no many here who call otherwise well meaning Republicans RINO's if they stray one iota from their agenda.... ie: Michael Medved, Bill Bennett, Michelle Malkin all called RINO's when they scolded Ann Coulter....whether one agrees with them or not, they are hardly RINO's....

>>>>>...I was being facetious....

Okay. Understood. A few FReepers misuse and overuse the term, RINO. I don't consider Bill Bennett and Michelle Malkin to be RINO`s. Wouldn't label Michael Medved a RINO either. And Ann Coulter did nothing wrong at CPAC and all the so-called conservatives who are viciously attacking her, need to cool their jets.

However, Rudy Giuliani is a liberal and a RINO.

he had no real record on the subject:

"Justice Kennedy's constitutional views on the matter were largely unknown, since his 12 years on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit had brought no major abortion cases"

the vetting process on Kennedy - was poor. republican senators like jesse helms, red flagged him. Reagan sent him up anyway.

As a Duncan Hunter supporter I am choosing not to engage in debate on this Rudy Giuliani thread on Free Republic. As a freeper I am disappointed that there are fans of a liberal presidential candidate trying to push socially liberal views on this socially conservative forum. In particular, I have noticed that the Rudy G fans do not answer posts questioning the qualitative substance of their candidate, or the posts are met merely with insults.

Duncan Hunter's campaign website
http://www.gohunter08.com/

Statement of Jim Robinson, Founder of Free Republic:

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc.

Video of Rudy Giuliani in his own words
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVBtPIrEleM

Transcript of video below.

Will the real Rudy show up at CPAC?

Culture of life:

ABC clip:

George Will: "Do you think Roe v Wade was good constitutional law?"

Rudy Giuliani: "Yes I believe, I believe it is."

Cnn Clip December 2, 1999:

Announcer: "Giuliani was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial birth abortions, something Bush strongly supports."

Rudy Giuliani : "No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing."

Immigration

CNN clip:

Announcer: "Back in 1996, mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants."

Rudy Giuliani: "There isn't a mayor or a public official in this country that's more strongly pro immigrant than I am. Including disagreeing with President Clinton when he signed an anti-immigration legislation about two or three years ago."

Gun control:

CNN clip

Rudy Giuliani: "I'm in favor of gun control"

Meet The Press:

Tim Russert: "How about registration of all handguns?"

Rudy Giuliani: "You know I'm in favor of that. I've been on your show many times."

Gay Rights:

CNN Clip:

Announcer: "As mayor he supported civil unions, and extending health and other benefits to gay couples."

ABC Clip: "I supported domestic partnership legislation and signed it"

Meet The Press:

Tim Russert: "So should gay people be openly allowed to serve?"

Rudy Giuliani: "I think people should be judged on the merits. And there should not be a specific focus on someone's sexual orientation."

First Amendment:

ABC Clip

Cokie Roberts: "Would you vote in the senate in favor of Mccain / Feingold?"

Rudy Giuliani: "Yes, I'm a big supporter of Mccain / Feingold. I have been for a long time."

Party Loyalty:

ABC Clip:

Rudy Giuliani: "Frankly George, I'd like to run on all the lines. I'd like to run on the liberal line, the conservative line, I'd like to run on the democratic line if I could figure out how to do it."

Conservative Values:

Meet The Press:

Tim Russert: "Whether it's gays in the military, gun control, campaign finance, late term abortion - you and Hillary Clinton are in sync on those issues."

Rudy Giuliani: "Well then maybe the other side should stop the 'He's part of the vast right wing conspiracy'."

Welcome To CPAC, Rudy!

End clip.

If every major right to life organ in the nation supported Kennedy`s nomination, I'd say they considered him to be a pro-lifer.

Nothing in that NY Times article challenges what I posted.

You selectively left off one critical remark by Robert Bork.

Mr. Bork said: "[Kennedy] had indicated that he would overturn Roe v. Wade, and then changed his vote. He was expected to be different."

And that gets right back to the original point I was making.

So, you went around and around and around, and you offered nothing to challenge my post. Again. No one knows how a justice will turn out 10-20 years down the road. That includes Bush43`s two picks, CJ Roberts and J. Alito.

No. I just know how to read the political facts and analyze them accordingly. Calling Rudy a liberal and a RINO are two facts of political life. You on the other hand have been shilling for Rudy for the last year on FR. So, we know where you stand.
