What's the scoop on Fred Thompson? What are his values? Could he be convinced to run? He certainly has name recognition here and if he was a gun supporter, I'm sure he would get support here, even with Dems.

[.. Conservatives Are Being Picky To A Fault ..]

George Will is, all frames, no lenses, in this glasses..
The right wing in America (if there still one) is very quiet these days..

George must think he is NOT A RINO, or something..
Delusion and denial are serious diseases these days..

"You lazy rascal!! Where's that chart?"

I haven't used a chart. What are you referring to?

And with all respect-- and I mean that sincerely-- that's a selfish position. The truth is, we are all going to die. How long this country continues after us is something we can and should influence. Terrorists will not destroy this nation, anymore than barbarians destroyed Rome: we'll continue to rot from the inside until we fall.

Podhoretz knows his stuff.

The primary calendar is way too front loaded next year IMHO. There is value is winnowing the candidates in a longer race, you see how the perform under pressure and they can't fudge an issue. The Dems had a less front loaded, but still fast, process in 2004 and they got Kerry, a lousy candidate.

This is politics - big time politics. Hunter is playing beanbag. He says he doesn't need a consultant; well, he needs something. Still, if he gets the nod, I will vote for him.

I'm entirely too self centered and egotistical to be anyones fan-boy. But Jim does come up with some excellent stuff.

"Terrorists will not destroy this nation, anymore than barbarians destroyed Rome: we'll continue to rot from the inside until we fall."

I agree wholeheartedly. The chicken littles in NYC may tremble in fear daily from terrorists, but all of us in floyover country are just going about our lives. I fear domestic enemies attacking our rights more than I fear foreign enemies attacking our soil.
