I haven't read SI regularly since I left CNN. I get Sporting News regularly (thanks to a self-perpetuating free subscription), and haven't looked back. This is even more reason not to look back. If you REALLY want to punish yourself, the cover fiction story (by writer Alexander Wolff) is at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/03/06/eco0312/ Just damn. (for once I wish I had my ping list with me here at work) M

Thanks for the link - - that's a keeper.

C'mon, this kool aid drinking political cleansed BS is getting annoying. Is Al Gore inside with Man Bear Pig? Im serial! Just like MTV showing how global warming caused Hurrican Katrina. Im serial!
To: RinaseaofDs
Not even 30 years ago, a nanosecond on the global clock, they were talking about enacting radical changes to stop the process of Global Cooling.I was in college then - - I remember it all clear as a bell.
In the end, it's about the money, especially taxpayer provided grant money for colleges, college professors, and bogus parasitic "scientists" and their labs; it's about the money the rats take from naive dupes for their campaign coffers; it's about the money the global socialists want to suck out of the United States taxpayers, mainly through the UN.
With these scumbags, it's ALWAYS about the money. Global cooling, global warming, AIDS, slave labor, whales, old-growth forests - - they always come up with a new racket.

dumped my subscription last year because of the leftward tilt inserted wherever they could. I will let my Scientific American subscription lapse for the same reason this year. we did the same thing with our local newspaper. how can these companies afford to loose subscribers?

Is SI looking for social relevance? they devote more and more time to left leaning social commentaries. dan patrick is telling people why they are racists one day and homophobes the next. basing expectations on race

Wait. You received this issue in the mail??Yes sir.... and just this minute I figured out WHY. The address tag on this magazine (which I am holding right here in my presently nicotine-stained fingers) has the name and address of a stranger from another part of town who happens to have the same house number as me.
Now I gotta figure out whether I want another (possibly non-freeper) human to see this stinking thing.
