I think it was the way you added the word "scumbag" to your reporting and discussing that gave me that idea.
I'm of the Ronald Reagan school of thought on primaries "Thou shalt never speak ill of another Republican"
Now, we don't have a Reagan these days and I don't have 1% of William Casey's insight but I figure the way to get a conservative elected is to get him nominated in such a way that his opponents and their supporters can rally behind him in the general.
Just a hunch but I would think a pattern of labeling them things like "scumbag" won't help that effort.
