It's the latter part that I'd have no problem with. But the former is a problem. If they're merely ~visible~ to other students, well, too bad. There shouldn't be a problem of them merely being in a public place, unless their little drum circle is in the middle of traffic.
It sounds like this group is putting themselves right in the middle of things, though. They went fishing for a confrontation and got one. My sympathy factor is low, so far.
Shame on you!
Agreed. My sympathy factor for people trying to run a school these days is growing. :~)
actually if you read THOUGHT the reporter spin of the school board it sounds like they were JUST VISIBLE to other students.
Essentially the school is complaining the gathering was causing rubbernecking.
If the homosexual sex club was having a hump in in the common area, rubbernecking would be made mandatory by the administration.
But there is the rub - who and what decides what "obstruct" means. In this case, from what I have heard and read, there was no obstruction. The praying students were just in a public location in the cafeteria which is perfectly acceptable at that school. The problem is that they chose to pray. Apparently, that is the crime of "obstructing" traffic - they were VISIBLE.
