"Both of these "girls" were absolutely accountable for their actions and behavior,"

Yes at 18 but if it is not something that was enforced by their parents as children then NO that is not the case. You cant say that a child who has been abused its whole life (not saying that these girls were by any means) is then emotionally stable to make rationale decisions. These girls probably had absent fathers who let them do as they pleased and rewarded them with money and gifts instead of the attention that they wanted.

What do you want, competency hearings before you become a licensed adult? Either 18 year olds are adults or they are not. At some point, people must be responsible for their own decisions, regardless of their history. For far too long, people such as yourself have confused the difference between having a reason for an action and having an excuse for it.

Having "absent fathers who let them do as they pleased and rewarded them with money and gifts instead of the attention that they wanted," may be a reason these "girls" want to prolong their adolescence indefinitely, but it is not an excuse for doing so and shifting the blame. If they are so mentally deficient as to not know right from wrong at the age of 18, then they should be institutionalized or made permanent wards of their caregivers and not allowed out in society. But both of us know that is not the case; they do know the difference and chose to do wrong anyway. One of the reasons they felt justified in doing so is because people like you consistently excuse the behavior as someone else's fault. It's their own fault and no one else's.
