Rocksprings, Texas Sheriff Says US Attorney Railroaded Conviction of His Deputy
Southwest Texas LIVE! ^ | 3/7/07 | Joe Hyde

“I’ll tell you one thing is going to happen from all of this. Someone is going to get killed,” Edwards County Sheriff Don G. Letsinger said about the current climate of prosecuting law enforcement officers, including one of his own.

Letsinger has noted five highly publicized cases brought by the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Texas. That “someone” that may be killed is not likely to be a civilian, according to Letsinger. “The checklist is getting too long before you [as a law enforcement officer] decide ‘is it going to be me or you,’” he said.

Letsinger is Deputy Sheriff Gilmer Hernandez’s boss. And today Hernandez sits in the GEO Group jail in Del Rio, Texas, awaiting sentencing that could incarcerate him for ten years in a federal penitentiary. Hernandez’s crime was that he used a firearm, he contends, in self-defense. The feds say he violated the civil rights of an illegal alien in doing so.

Now why the heck do they only apply this level of legal pressure to illegal shootings? If this was the trend for cops shooting citizens I might not have an issue with it.

Sounds to me like the Justice Department needs to step on this prosecutor and stop this foolishness.

Let me guess: Johnny Sutton's contribution to making America safer for criminals.

I really Believe that the actions of the prosecutor Sutton are driven by directions from people above him,
WAY ABOVE HIM.

The message , I think is , Border Patrol Take warning, if you interfere with the invasion of Illegal Aliens YOU will face the wrath of the Federal Governmnment.

It all seems to play into the Open Borders and Cheap Labor
Mentality in our country today.

The Border Patrol people are paying the Price and the message is very clear !!!!!!!!

This is just nuts! The US attorney is putting illegal aliens rights above those of law enforcement. What the hell is going on? When did up become down, black become white?

The U.S. Attorney needs to be removed from his position. His blatant attack on our law enforcement officers is a danger to this nation as a whole. Time for a letter writing campaign and contacting the elected officials to put a stop to this insanity.

That message seems to be "Stand down and only get involved if you can assist entry". My blood is boiling which can be a good thing with three feet of snow on the ground.

Seem to me this administration has made an arrangement with Mexico to allow barely limited drug and illegal-alien transportation across the border and is punishing those officers who didn't get the word or who are still enforcing the old rules. I am waiting for one of the registered trucks that we will be allowing across the border without examining them, to be busted with cocaine by some Nevada HP and the HP guy is the one who goes to prison with the truck driver/smuggler getting lifetime immunity. I guess we can't call them smugglers anymore.

These prosecutions are the sort of thing I would have expected from the Clintons. And it is Bush doing them. You can't separate out the AG from his boss, not when this is obviously a pattern. Whoever would expect that Bush would be Clinton redux?

We have a WAR down there along the Border and until Our Government realizes it is their DUTY to SECURE, Protect It and Guard it with every means possible, the Citizens along the Border will end up having to take the law into their own hands. It is an INVASION, And EVERY Lawmaker in CONGRESS, SENATE and UP should be ASHAMED at their Complete neglegence. Only a handful of our so called officials are Awake on this. The rest are too busy filling thier wallets with campaign money and under the table bribes and Blinded eyes. When our Police, BP and National Guard are afraid of doing their job for fear of being railroaded into jail by corrupt judges so drug smuggling illegals can get amnesty and a free pass. While half of the country sits on their rears watching American Idol and the rest of the country being indotrinated by the MSM. Sometimes I wonder if this is the Country I grew up in.

Not likely. He is heavily connected with GW. Yet another example of how we seem to pander to Mexico's influence over our administration. To say it continues to puzzle me would be a gross understatement.

And no I am not bashing the President whom I voted for and donated money to twice. It is just way out here in the bleacher seats that I occupy I have not a clue on "our" (America's) policies when it comes to Mexico and the illegal actions of their citizens flooding across our border.

This is definitely NOT the country I grew up in, and now I'm fearing the country my little grandsons are going to have to live in.

Lived 22 yrs in Tx, Born and bred, spent 4 yrs in Navy and another 16 being a Military Dependent. We are retired Navy now and although I have supported Bush and the Administration on everything else, This Immigration Issue is by far the Most Important. We are in desperate need of some Leadership. Some backbone, Some Justice. I am in Ct now and the illegal problem is not just down south anymore. We are being Invaded and our Government is waving the White Flag leaving its Citizens out in the dust.I lost faith in our justice system when they commited a young innocent lady to death by starvation by the hands of a judge. Now our judges are putting the very people who protect us in prison. Something is very Wrong here.

Unfortunately it's the Justice Dept. (said tongue in cheek) that's a major part of the problem.

Someone has to have something on Sutton. What has he done that the Mexican government is using to blackmail him and our feds? Something is very fishy here.
