I was wondering if any Catholic Freepers gave up FR for six weeks. I'm trying not to eat dinner. Stick to two meals a day and hopefully lose some tonnage. So far, it's been 50-50. I'm not a good Catholic.

I always give up sweets and eating between meals - it was more difficult at my old job about 10 years ago. I sat next to a couple of "born again" guys who considered it great fun to eat doughnuts while making loud eating noises every morning. It was annoying as hell but pretty funny at the same time.

I haven't posted in quite some time - but I wanted to answer your question. About 4 - 5 years ago - I did give up FR for Lent. Well - I gave up all but 1/2 hour a day of FR for Lent. It was extremely difficult. But - I did it!!

This year I gave up chocolate - I think giving up FR was harder - and I am a real chocoholic!!

For the past two years I had given up the internet entirely for lent.

Being that I don't watch MSM for news that also meant giving up all news reports.

But it was good letting go that part of my life to concentrate more on God.

This year I've given up the left-hand lane on my way to work. My route is 25 miles of dodging speed crazed drivers, construction vehicles, semi-trailers, and interspersed with creeping bumper to bumper traffic. Driving only in the right hand lane allows me to separate myself from all that, not worry about how slow I'm going or how much I'm being passed.
