Genealogist finds Obama's ancestors owned slaves

NEW YORK - Barack Obama has been criticized for not being "black enough" because he isn't descended from slaves.

Another genealogist, Bruce Harrison, traced Obama's roots and found:

“The Family Forest® shows Senator Barack Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, having a number of her ancestral pathways leading back to early colonial Virginia and New England, and some extend back for many centuries into Europe,” Harrison points out.

It is indeed ironic that the first black person with a halfway decent chance to reach the top of US politics is not the descendant of slaves, did not even have any family member suffer under Jim Crowe, but did have ancestors that owned slaves, that owned the ancestors of those who marched in Selma.

Shhhhhh. That article is coming out in July. The Rodhams were found to have a black great-great-great-great-grandfather who indeed was a slave on a plantation in early Virginia. Some say that the slave-owning family indeed were the Davises. Don't rain on Hillary's parade. She is practicing every night to get the dialect just right for the announcement.

Somehow, I do not think we want to disqualify from the office of the Presidency any person whose ancestors once owned slaves.
