I am as pro-Capitalist as they come, and I have not read 'Atlas Shrugged', but I got half-way thru 'The Fountainhead' and I put it down.
I just cannot identify with those self-obsessed characters. Even I, as an uber-Capitalist, cannot deny that other people exist and should be considered worthy of my attention.

I struggled through The Fountainhead and now I look at Atlas Shrugged on my book shelf and wonder if I should bother.

I couldn't get through the Fountainhead either - but Atlas Shrugged was worth the read.

It should be a personal choice, not a public obligation. Otherwise, you get what we have today... decaying systems that have little hope for long-term viability.

Rand never suggested that other people didn’t exist, but she was an elitist and only had admiration and empathy for people she admired. Likewise her heros enjoyed the company of other heros.
