The MSM is elated--but do normal folks know or care?

This reminds me of Martha Stewart. Never charged with insider trading, but convicted on perjury.

GWB will give a pardon on Christmas 2008

That's the bottom line. If a persecutor like Fitzgerald can find an insignificant memory lapse and turn into a potential 25 year sentence, that tells me I should never say anything to any government official.

This is an outrage.

"W" doesn't care about our wrongfully imprisoned border agents. Why should he care about Libby?

Speaking the name of an insignificant CIA desk jockey?"

Libby is prosecuted for a poor memory, but Sandy Berger is walking free after theft of national security documents. Two Border Patrol Agents are in prison for protecting the borders against criminals. Another is to stand trial for defending himself. The Clinton Administration shared military secrets with China, and now China has satellite warfare technology. They all walk free. Where is the justice?

***There is a precedence set for sentencing for perjury...Clinton had his license to practice law suspended for 5 years...that was it.***

EXACTLY! Sandy Buglar is walking free, and Clinton is out there making millions.

A Republican doesn't stand a chance with a DC jury.

Makes you wonder if he'd have gotten off better by refusing to say anything to anyone about the matter, no matter what.

You have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you. You have a right to have an attorney present during questioning. If you can not afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you at no charge. If you are an attorney, you should know to keep your mouth shut. When being questioned, always say, I do not recall. I'm sorry, I do not recall.

I am not a fan of Libby or Cheney, but this case is yet more proof that federal prosecutors are out of control. There was no crime here, just as there was no crime with Martha Stewart and many high profile defendants targeted by the feds.

If ever called to a Grand Jury...the smart thing to do is either tell the absolute truth or say nothing. The minute you lie to the Grand Jury and they figure this out...you can add years onto what would have been a 1-year sentence.

You are putting your finger on a definite problem. Regulatory process would grind to a halt if witnesses thought they had protect themselves against probable prosecution if they misspoke.

Fitzgerald did no one any good ~ this one trial is going to have multi billion dollar repurcussions in the cost of government and business.

An appeal would seem the next logical step. That drags it out another 18 months or so, then W issues a pardon right after the 2008 elections.

just wait until some of the jurors get their 15 minutes of fame, getting interviewed on TV. You will get a look at some profoundly stupid people.
