He's not sinking because he supports Bush's Iraq plan - he's toast because he's now being dropped by the MSM, he's two-faced, he's anti-tax-cut, and he supports illegal alien amnesty.

Another insider, a guru to the conservative movement, says that McCain himself is growing increasingly desperate in the wake of his downward slide in the pollsa slip hastened by his steadfast support of the very man who savaged him and his family during the 2004 election, George W. Bush, and the president's unpopular plan for troop surge in Iraq. "One of the top aides to the Republican leadership told me that McCain has lost so much support, he's simply beside himself. He's wringing his hands. Things are sinking fastin two or three weeks, we'll know if there is any recovery."He's not sinking in the Republican polls for supporting the president. This bodes very poorly for the Senate for the next two years. The only thing keeping McCain on the reservation is the need to play conservative for the primaries. One he is out of the presidential race, he's going to be a huge problem in the Senate.

I'm sure McCain will be able to win people back by emphasizing the al-Queda Bill of Rights, tax hikes, and ACLU judges.

I really admire him for his stand on Iraq, but it just doesn't make up for him spitting on conservatives over and over again the last six years.

Is he up for re-election in Arizona in 2008?

You nailed it friend. Bush's Iraq plan might actually work and McCain would look like a freaking genius for supporting it.
Most of us no longer trust him because he was too infatuated by media attention to pay any attention to the conservative base and delighted in tinkling on us with crap like McCain-Feingold and shamnesty for illegal alien invaders.
