how's this for predictions

Charlie Cook is famous for making predictions that were incorrect.

According to this, Charlie Cook better buy a Schwinn.

"I would give McCain a 60, 65 percent chance of winning the Republican nomination," he disclosed. By contrast, he added, "I'll win the Tour de France before Rudy Giuliani wins the Republican nomination."

I like Barone and he's usually very accurate . In this instance he only addresses one of the social issues . A winning primary candidate has to be solid on Abortion and Gun Rights to win the Republican primary . The importance of the gun issue always seems to be overlooked and downplayed . Rudy will not be able to overcome or explain away his love and lust for strict gun control over the years . He hasn't even made an attempt to move to the right on the issue.

I have a great deal of respect for Michael Barone and what he comes up with studying all the election bits and pieces. If he is correct that we are about to become two parties who are pro-choice, the Republican party will dissolve and the remaining party faithful will have to merge with the Democrats to survive, because that's the only way they are likely to win anything and have any power. Social conservatives will form a conservative 3rd party that will also be too small to win or wield any power.

How come I won't be surprised to see the "two-headed" party become one?

It seemed to be the rule from 1980 to 2000 that only abortion opponents could win the Republican presidential nomination But rules in politics don't always last forever.

I don't think this rule has actually changed one bit. I think voters just aren't familiar enough with Rudy's actual positions to realize he is extreme pro-choice. He vetoed a law banning partial birth abortion. Voters also are not yet familiar with his leftist stances on a long list of issues -- guns, gay marriage, and especially illegal aliens/amnesty. As voters learn the truth, Rudy will sink. Rudy is a much better fit in the Democrat party, perhaps he could have run well there. I do not put any weight in these early polls.

"the Washington Post's "

The Washington COMpost" per conservative radio host and constitutional lawyer Mark Levin.

More liberals backing Rudy = more troubles for Rudy in the Red States.

Go Rudy Go! Rudy is doing so well, I hope just he isn't peaking too early. Rudy is doing better in the Republican party than Hillary is doing in the Democratic party.

Unless McCain can pull a heck of a comeback, Rudy is the Republican nominee in my book.

Excellent, a cursory look suggests dozens of posts without the Hunterite spambots trying to elect a 'legislator' as the next President on a website without a regard to history or common sense. (They cannot foresee this error as this forest they speak of, is in the way).
