Patty Davis (she wouldn't even use her father's name) wrote very negative stories about her family, "fictionalized" novel versions. I read one of them, it was quite obvious who she was writing about, and her anger at her parents. Ron Jr. we could write pages about ourselves, his estrangement from them, his life-style, words, actions. I see this campaign will be very ugly and from some in his own party. And all sanctioned here at the F.R. and in fact encouraged. But of course the less than ideal reality of many other Republicans, past and prsent, is brushed off as quite OK.
The problem with the way Patti and Ron was that they were very spoiled by their mother.
Reagan had 2 other kids raised by a different mother, they turned out quite the opposite.
In this day and age, blended families with estrangement is more the norm than the exception. This will probably be reflected in our future leaders too.
