I caught that too. A gash in the crust, spreading new ocean floor out in both directions, would seem to me to be entirely consistent with Plate Tectonics theory.

Where exactly is this mysterious gap in the earths crust? There was an article that said it was 300miles east of Cape Verde or something, deep in the ocean ... but where is this place? Latitude and Longitude?
