Coulter utters the new f-word
World Net Daily ^ | March 5, 2007 | Tom Flannery

Will Ann Coulter never learn?

There are some things you just can't say, not even in jest. And at the top of that list right now is anything derogatory about the "gay" lifestyle or, worse yet, anything that is considered a slur against homosexuals, a protected class of people with special rights which entitle them to live free from all offense.

Ann surely should have known this. After all, hasn't she seen any of the countless films or TV shows produced by Hollywood in recent years which promote homosexuality as a perfectly normal and acceptable alternative lifestyle? Indeed, the homosexuals in virtually every one of these films and TV shows are smarter, funnier, hipper and more humane than the heterosexual characters.

Hasn't she seen or read any of the endless media stories promoting homosexuality in the same glowing manner, with never a critical word to be uttered? Doesn't she know that our schools are teaching children that homosexuality is a completely legitimate practice, and one we must all embrace and support as such whether we engage in it or not?

Yet despite all of this, Ann had the unmitigated gall to get up before an overflow crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, while the cameras were still rolling, and say this: "I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I – so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."

The Latest Slur from Homosexual types is to refer to Normal people as Breeders.
That slur sounds almost as bad as Illegal Aliens referring to White People as "Gringos". Saying also that old white people should go back to Europe and die.

People of Tolerance.

Don't the Homosexuals have a saying, "I'm here I'm Queer and I'm in your Face".

Edwards a faggot, don't know - but he sure spends a lot of time combing his hair.

So did Fonzi. :) (On "Happy Days" tv show in case you miss the reference.)

Edwards should announce that he is "a gay American" for the bump in the polls (no pun intended).

that would be bump in the poles wouldn't it?

Rule Two, no member of the faculty is to maltreat the Abos in any way at all -- if there's anybody watching.

Well I don't see how it is worse in this context than Breck Girl or girly-man. It was clearly chosen because of the Grey's Anatomy story. No one seriously thinks she was actually slurring our beloved and elevated homosexual class in that no one seriously thinks Edwards is a homosexual.

I disagree, the term "faggot" is nothing like "nigger." It's wrong to make fun of black people.

If Ann erred, it would be to obliquely infer that Edwards was homosexual, when he may not be homosexual. But there's nothing wrong with calling a homo a faggot.

The irony is that Ann is being excoriated by the left, and lambasted by the right, for something she said specifically that she was not going to say. She did not say it and gave the reason why.

The glaringly obvious reason for Ann's sarcastic remark was to point out the hypocrisy of supression of speech that does not have the political left's stamp of approval. Far more egregious things have been said and done by people on the left, and for far more dispicable reasons. It is usually categorized as humor, or ignored, when a leftist says or does it.

I don't think it's too much to ask that those on "our side", who are jostling with the left to seek the 'moral high ground' by condemning Ann for such "offensive" speech and behavior, should recognize that honesty demands defending Ann's pointing out the hypocrisy of the left even as they express their disapproval of the way she said it. A general condemnation cedes the moral high ground to hate-filled, less than moral, leftists, who do not deserve it. It also allows the left to reinforce their stereotype of Conservatives by condemning Ann, who does not deserve it.

There shouldn't be any 'consequences' to free speech.

If you mean from the government, absolutely. But that doesn't mean that you are immune to personal consequences, such as a loss of employment, if the employer deems it's not in the best interest of the company.
