I Have Seen the Future: It Is Giuliani (Red State.com)
Red State.com ^ | 3/5/07 | Eric Erkickson

Today I have seen the future and that future is President Rudy.

It's not that I'm voting for Rudy, but the vacuum to be filled has been filled.

Consider this:

Rudy Giuliani and Tony Snow are the only guys who have had to have fire marshals bar people from entering due to overcapacity in a very big room.

In the green room, Giuliani's speech was the only one to cause everyone to sit down, shut up and watch.

More and more, the conservatives at CPAC are realigning. You have the Brownback folks, the Mitt folks, and the people who are headed quickly to Rudy. And you know what? They are more or less cheerful in doing it.

They've found the guy who knows he needs them to get in the door. They know the calculus Rudy has made -- the conservatives aren't selling out their principles; Rudy is telling them he won't impose his social view on them, but he'll keep them safe.

After all, abortion is not an issue when a terrorist has killed you.

Look for all guns to turn on Rudy now. He's been the frontrunner all along and now the rest of the pack realizes it.

The reception he got at CPAC should worry them.

"When you figure out a way for the UNborn to vote then you might have a point. "

Well, six-year-olds can't vote, either. I guess that means parents should be able to slaughter them as well if they so desire, using your "logic."

"'Are you ready to concede that Hunter came out of the CPAC terribly weakened.'

Well, I don't. That would be like saying that an unreadable manuscript lost its remaining ink."

Be fair Hunter's speech was decent but he was also handicapped by his early slot when the audience was just filing in and sleepy/hungover. I do not believe that was an accurate example of his ability.

Well, we are all entitled to our own amazement, but it really amazes me that hordes of people are vowing to sit out the election if Rudy gets the nomination. And this while we're at war!

I vote and work on behalf of the unborn as hard as I can. Keep talking because your half-a-Hillary is going to be crushed (when I say crushed I mean that figuratively, unlike the actual crushing of unborn babies skulls that your delightful little candidate is so supportive of).

Nice story but if they can be so easily converted I doubt the conversion will last. Rudy will get a solid majority in Illinois. Likely your in laws will be part of it.

“Rudy is telling them he won't impose his social view on them.... ”

When did he assert this? All I've heard him say is that “...we have differences”.

A lot of people are rushing for the lifeboats before the ship leaves port.

"You have the Brownback folks"

Where? I know he placed in the CPAC straw poll, but who are these "folks?" I've yet to encounter one.

Are you ready to concede that Hunter came out of the CPAC terribly weakened. I say his campaign is dead.

Considering that the winner, Romney, only recieved 21%, I'd say that nobody came out of CPAC looking especially stronger or weaker.

Well, at least the Islamists would outlaw abortion.

Muslims have a lot of abortion. It's called honor killing. They just kill both the mother and the unborn.

"Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) leads New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) 52% to 43%. "

Probably a valid poll for the nation. Hillary's support levels out at 43% and is a mile wide and an inch deep.

However, the last poll I saw had hillary beating Rudy in his home state of New York by a landslide. Do you have a recent New York poll showing something different?

National polls don't mean much. Electoral votes are gathered by winning states.

What you call "my" logic is not the point at all. I am sure once the Party of Treason figures out how to get the vote of the UNborn it will join that of the cemetary residents.

Of course, anyone truthfully speaking of logic would know that there was no justification of abortion within my statement. So you either falsely claimed there was or do not understand what logic is.

I note your lack of response to the observation that Hunter was terribly damaged by his showing in the CPAC poll.

The odds are strongly against Duncan Hunter at the moment. I will concede that there is plenty of time to turn that around, but he needs massive funding, a new wardrobe, and I'd argue a new trade policy. The first one is the big challenge.

I'm not buying the David vs Goliath scenario. In today's political envirnoment, it's Goliath vs Goliath. David is just some kid slinging pebbles.

David is just some kid slinging pebbles.

That's what Goliath thought too.

We'll basically see what kind of equilizer impact net activism and venues such as YouTube can have on political campaigns.

and I'd argue a new trade policy.

I would argue Hunter's fair trade policy, coupled with his strong stance against illegal immigration, will be his strongest selling point - both in the primary and in the general election.

How sweet of you to say.

In order for Hunter to have come out of this with ANY credibility he should have been in double figures not dragging up the rear. He probably won't even last till September which was the time I figured he would drop out by. Now he may not even last until Summer. Unfortunate.

No I don't act like the first caucus is tomorrow but the time for raising money FOR the first caucus is NOW. This showing makes that impossibly difficult for Duncan.

Splitting the far right vote between him, Huckabee, Paul, Romney and Tancredo guarantees a Rudy victory.
