"Bureaucrats gone wild..."
The Forest Service have been 'vacating' allotments that were active since the 1800's knowing that the ranchers and herders would go broke in a few years.
The Hollywood Ted Turner crowd is pleased.

It would be fun to "embed" Wendy and a few of her pals with some pilots in Afghanistan to see how high altitude flying and rescue works.

You and me both. Actually, some of the campgrounds are close to commercial air routes, so it's pretty common to see and hear commercial jets up there. Every now and then you see one going a lot faster than the rest - those are fun.

Her friends apparently do not need a helicopter to get high.

I wonder if Mike Johanns of the US Department of Agriculture knows about this.

FIRE Wendy and her agency pals right away, let them go off to commune with fellow enviro-wankers.
Yeah, they support the troops....... must be the Taliban they have in mind......

Please tell the USDA.
Ever since Bill Clinton sent in Martha K. as supervisor this forest has ignored the foresters, biologists...
Their political agenda is to ignore science and to ignore the concept of 'Land of Many Uses.' They work overtime to close as many acres as possible. They constantly manage huge areas 'as' if Congress had declared 'wilderness' .
One example of these eco-nut proposed travel rules related to travel management. The propsal was to restrict one person per mile camping; thus a family had to put each kid a mile away from the parents who also had to camp a mile apart. And there were many other stupid proposals.
They do not need a helicopter to get high.

Bombs; four MK-82s.

Thanks.
I do not understand how some mid level liberal in the forest service can deny the army their needed training hours and also their locations.

[Boulder greenies to go backpacking in.]
I went home over last summer and found large portions of the rock walls I used to frequent in Eldorado Canyon over 20 years ago are now mostly closed to climbing. They were closed due to "Environmental concerns" related to birds that nest on the rock walls.
I don't know what their problem is with Helicopter training at high altitude - especially this time of year. Spring is still months away above the timber line and everything is still covered with snow.
You're right about the people's republic of Boulder though. They'll do anything they can do to monkey-wrench the military.
