A military correspondent for Russia's top business daily has died after falling out of a window, and some media alleged Monday that he might have been killed for his critical reporting.
Ivan Safronov, the military affairs writer for Kommersant, died Friday after falling from a fifth-story window in the stairwell of his apartment building in Moscow, officials said. His body was found by neighbors shortly after the fall.
With prosecutors investigating the death, Kommersant and some other media suggested foul play.

The Bear isn't dead. He is just sleeping.
When are they going to start putting bars on their hotel windows over there? The trouble with Russia is...they do not have enough trial lawyers. /sarcasm
They were very thorough; they weighted him down as well, in case there was a hint of moisture on the concrete below.
Anthony: How did he die?
Aldo: Someone stepped on his fingers.
Anthony: And that killed him?
Aldo: He was hanging from the window ledge of the Edison Hotel at the time.
Let that be a lesson to all banana eaters; don't leave those peels laying around on your floor, especially near a window.

What a paneful way to go.
Sounds like a nice, clean hit to me, executed by a KGB, FSB, whatever they are calling themselves these days. At least he didn't slip and accidentally fall on a bullet.
In the greater scheme of things, were putin not silencing the critics, then the mess he presides over might have been cleaned up a bit and even the bulava tests could have been more successful. And do we want the bulava tests being more successful?
I wonder what the last thing was that went through his mind? His shoes!
(ouch)
Think we should tell Vladimir that Harry Reid has been seen with Mrs. Putin?
That Putin-what a guy! It just goes to show you, you can take the thug out of the KGB, but you can't take the KGB out of the thug.
It would be an interesting experiment to lock Putin and BillyJeff in a room and see which one came out.
Reminds me of how Foreign Minister Jan Masaryk, the leading anticommunist in the Czech cabinet, "committed suicide" by defenestration in 1948. Rumanian intelligence defector Ion Mihai Pacepa says the commies did the job. "Accidents" and "suicides" are a longtime KGB specialty.
Or, he survives five floor plunge, only to die on impact?LOL!
I should not make light of this. Obviously Putin and company are intimidating folks. Some Russian expert was shot out his DC home this past week. You have Livenko who was poisoned, the Russian female jouralist shot to death in Moscow. Vlad will soon catch up to the Clintons in the "body count" department.
Bush take note
