Oh dear...that happened to me five years ago. Mr. Cheney is going to be nailed to a bed on IV heparin for at least five days!!!
He'll be in my prayers. Hopefully they caught it fast enough it won't break off and travel to his heart, lungs or brain!
According to tv reports, Cheney is already back at work.
Actually, they can be treated as outpatients just as well with shots twice a day and the warfarin pills....Once the warfarin is effective (generally 5 - 7 days) the shots are stopped. If the clot is in the superficial veins and not the deeper veins they can be treated without blood thinners... so like everything else in medicine...it depends!
