I think CPAC is a little out of touch with America. I consider myself a conservative but I do not agree with all CPAC stands for. I look at a man for what he has done when I decide if I will vote for him or not. I look at Rudy as a man who has taken on the New York mob and won. Rudy also took no a city that was in deep trouble. New York thanks to several Democratic mayors had been run into the ground. Economic conditions were driving business our to the city and lax social and law enforcement programs were making the city a hard place to live in. Rudy took over and turned things around. Rudy has proved himself a true leader and when you throw in how he handled 9/11 he is a man to respect. I do not agree with him on everything but feel he is better than the other current men who are running for the GOP nomination. (If Newt would deside to run then I might have to rethink things).

A nice post. Here is the thing, I agree with you 100%. Particularly since I was lived in NYC from 1991-1995, so I know exactly what a good mayor he was. Unlike McCain, I don't hate the guy or anything.

My thing is simply that we must reverse the tide of socialism. No, I don't expect to slash the size of government overnight, but even holding it at inflation would be fantastic. Reagan tried and failed. The Gingrich congress actually succedded for two year. Then W, Delay, and Hastert ruined it all and were worse spenders than LBJ.

Quite simply, the nation can't survive when the government takes the place of the family. The War on Terror is of course important, but look what a generation or two of nanny-state has done to Europe? When the government emasculate's the family and culture, it loses all moral bearing and isn't even capable of dealing with the muslim invasion.

That is why it is critical that the President is a believer in small government.

Now, Giuliani may be that man. He has a lot of good supply siders on his campaign team. If he comes out strong on a flat taxish sort of thing, I'll vote for him despite the abortion and homo stuff. But, that's why it is important we not just give him our support. We need to demand his attention on the less government side.
