Republicans who claimed their nominees would be strict constructionists and would not legislate from the bench gave us O'Connor and Souter.
How about Rudy/Gingrich 08?
Let me first say Senator, you are one of my favorites of all time. Read your autobiography and you have guts.
Also I think that a Rudy/Hunter ticket would play well. You're right, Newt is too well known and familiarity breeds contempt to the independent soccer moms and nascar dads. Too bad, because Newt is brilliant and would be a great President.
Hunter is the perfect VP candidate because he will partially satisfy the Social Conservatives, can act as a balance and conservative conscience if Rudy starts to get too liberal, and the clueless general public have never heard of him which works well in this case. (think Dan Quayle with a brain).
I can get my mind around it. I expect Rudy to make California competitive, at least as a financial drain to the Democrats, and Hunter on the ticket doesn't hurt that prospect in the least.
