I ... urged the young people there to conduct themselves at all times with dignity in their ideological battles on and off campus. I find it hard to argue against the idea of maintaining personal dignity and honor in one's communications. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is as true today as it ever was.

Would you be proud of your college-age daughter spewing such epithets in her campus debates with leftists? Come off it Michelle. You are going to tell me that college-age people that attend CPAC can't think for themselves and not use the word?
With a single word, Coulter sullied the hard work of hundreds of CPAC participants and exhibitors and tarred the collective reputation of thousands of CPAC attendees.
Male bovine fecal effluvia, Michelle. Last time I attended, Al Kamen of the WaPo went hunting around for an issue and saw a bumpersticker at a vendor booth that said "Islam" with the Nazi swastika replacing the letter "s." The booth belonged to a business owned by a fairly prominent FReeper. Leftists and liberals deliberately target CPAC hoping to find dirt every year.
Tempest in a teapot and I don't appreciate your characterization of Ms. Coulter, Michelle.

With a single word, Coulter sullied the hard work of hundreds of CPAC participants and exhibitors and tarred the collective reputation of thousands of CPAC attendees. At a reception for college students held by the Young America's Foundation, I lambasted the substitution of stupid slurs for persuasion-- be it "faggot" from a conservative or "gook" from a liberal--and urged the young people there to conduct themselves at all times with dignity in their ideological battles on and off campus. Whoa. If a single word could do that much damage, then I think we're giving too much power to the work of a single word. Could it be that we're focusing too much ON a single word and not enough on the entire BODY of work and research someone has done for conservatism?
Did liberals throw out Jackson after "hymie-town"? Nope. That jerk is as strong as ever.
Did liberals throw out AlGore after "no controlling legal authority" horsecrap? Nope.
How about Clinton after his violated an intern with his cigar and sucked on it? Nope.
The fact is, some conservatives are willing to just kick a fellow conservative for a single line--think Trent Lott, think Ann Coulter, I'm sure you can think of others...and by thus doing join the liberals in lambasting one of our own.
That is a stupid move. Coulter does a hell of a job pointing out Democrat hypocrisy and inconsistencies. And she ought to be applauded for such, not run down because she tells a politically incorrect JOKE, for goodness sake.

The reason Coulter is infinitely more popular than Michelle Malkin is because Malkin is utterly humorless.

Ann Coulter is one cool lady. Anyone who gets all frantic because she said the word "faggot" is not.

I really like how Coulter calls a man a homosexual and gets fried by her own "friends" all the while the people (Maher et al) get to say that they're sorry the suicide bomber in Afghanistan missed the VPOTUS and get a complete pass!
Ann if you read this...your friends are the ones who stick with you in the bad times!

Part of Michelle's conservatism comes from wanting to be a good parent and wanting her children not to be exposed to the incredible debauchery of our culture that is Liberalism. This isn't new for her. Those who attacker her here, I think, don't realize this is a sincere side of her. As for Ann, I love her, but the wit in the joke is not likely to be noticed because it's too obscure. I do believe she'd making fun of Edwards' penchant for being so feminine (see the Youtube file of him dandifying up his hair for a good example; see his flirty behavior with Kerry too) and his two female bloggers that he had to let go for their Catholic bashing who apparently also indulged in the use of the word fag quite a lot. I don't think Ann expected the joke to be understood, however. She seems to enjoy the counterattacks and then the opportunity to give an explanation to the dunderheads who attack her. However, I wish she'd have left this comment for print for many of the reasons Michelle states and because every forum deserves its own etiquette.

Michelle has been savaged by liberals on many occasions. She should know better. Eventually they will come for her. I don't agree with Ann using that forum for what she said. But I support her right to do it. This is war.
And I never miss the opportunity to attack the fraud and hypocrisy of the political correctness religion. So go Annie go.

You can and should use humor to convey your message. You can enlighten and entertain--without becoming a tired old schtick. You can joke without becoming the joke. I agree and Ann Coulter's tired old shtick is promoting the fortunes of Ann Coulter at the expense of other conservatives.

Michelle, I like you. However, as good a lady as you are, you were one of the first to come out and say you weren't going to vote in 2006 because of the Foley thing. You finally said at the last moment that you would hold your nose. It wasn't the war, or taxes, it was people who didn't vote. Many real conservatives went down because there was no rally for sanity. Many of those around you said the same thing. What did we find out? Stinking RATs were behind outing this gay man, we also found out he had no sex with minors, his contacts were inappropriate, but it was hyped by Dems to be more than it was. He was just gay and he resigned. You need to stop falling for liberal over hype, take a deep breath and stick up for those that are on the same side as you. Creating division by embracing the very thing the libs want you to do is ludicrous. They spare no person, even you, they will continue to harass you, so let them have it. It is richly deserved. Pubbies always sitting back and taking it inspires nothing. There is no wrong in throwing their bullstuff back in their face and pointing out the demented absurdity of their spin. Now, I will respectfully enter rehab.

I have stood in the back of a CPAC room next to Michelle and listened to speakers - what a petite woman she is!
As to her comments on Ann, get a grip Michelle.....it's a joke and WE do not need to go on and on about it......gees. CPAC is an adult function, it would be inappropriate to drag your children to it anyway. Let's all grow up and forgetaboutit.

I've remained silent upon the matter, but only because I appear in the minority who had thought Ann's insinuation highly out of place.
Actually, I think Michelle has the right opinion. More eloquently conveyed by Michelle than I, Conservatives ought carry themselves more respectfully than the loatheful. The word's usage within that setting was inappropriate and unless she's capable of personal corroboration of the insinuation, borders character (what little he has) assassination of Johnny Boy and is certainly no positive reflection upon CPAC's image.
Conservatives wouldn't nor shouldn't find the left's verbiage of slurs within a similar setting anything but disgraceful, neither should we engage nor condone the same's employ among our own. We just simply do not need to resort to the gutter level disgrace of the liberal left. WWRD? (What Would Reagan Do?) I think he'd distance himself from such antics - coming from anyone. But quick.
Personally, I can't say I care for Coulter's "style" even though she is easy on the eyes. She oft times comes off as a PMS-ticked Zoloft/Ritalin cocktail candidate who, with just the right word, could explode into ballistic fragments.
T'ain't my kind of woman.

This whole things just ludicrous. I don't follow Michelle Malkin closely enough to know what her deal is, but it's clear what Coulter said was a JOKE.
She is not running for office, a point which more than a few seem to miss. She is an author and a commentator.
It's not so much what she said about Johnny Breck that is even relevant; I admire her for kicking the PC beast in the gut.
One of the biggest issues facing this country, one of the worst things the loathesome left has done, is to make people police their vocabularies and their IDEAS. That they've succeeded at, and so much more sewage flows from getting your enemy - conservatives - to censor THEMSELVES.
I mean, it's not like Ann wished anyone DEAD, like psycho Bill Maher, or like she called anyone a NAZI (fill in your leftie of choice), or like she insulted Christians (like Johnny Breck's paid bloggers.)
Yes, you can do all those things if you're a leftist, and you'll be a hero. But say the NEW "F word" and it's as if you flew two 767s into skyscrapers.
Conservatives, c'mon. FOCUS on the REAL issues (and even if I agree with 99 percent of what Michelle Malkin says, she's on a level below Ann Coulter. Being the "Queen of the Blogsphere" (shoot me, that's so freaking embarrassing) is NOT like having multiple books on the New York Times bestseller list. Michelle needs to stop acting as if she's the Coulter alternative. There's room for both, when Michelle gets over herself.)
