THE al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq has posted a video on the internet apparently showing the execution of 18 Iraqi security troops, shot in the back of the head while kneeling in a field.
The three-minute video, on a website known to be used by the Islamists, said the 18 kidnapped Government security forces were slain in retaliation for the alleged rape of a Sunni woman by members of the Shiite-dominated police. The video's authenticity could not be verified.
The tape depicts the 18 men, some in Iraqi military uniforms, blindfolded, hands tied behind their backs and lined up in three rows in front of a screen. The men in the front row are kneeling down. Armed masked men are seen pointing pistols and machine guns at them.
Male voices chant repeatedly in Arabic during the video: "At your service, sister" ¡ª a likely reference to revenge for the allegedly raped Sunni woman.
Another male voice is heard reading the Islamic State of Iraq's statement posted on the same website, saying the group's court has ordered the 18 security troops executed because Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's Government failed to meet their demands and hand over the officers who allegedly assaulted the Sunni woman, and to release all women detainees from Iraqi prisons.
Then the video moves to the scene of execution, with the men lined up kneeling on the ground in a field by a citrus grove.
Two masked militants, with checked keffiyeh scarves on their heads, fire pistols from close range into the back of the head of each man as a third militant carries a banner ahead of them. The victims fall forward to the ground.
The spray of bullets is accompanied by chants of "Allahu Akbar", or "God is Great".
¡ö The US military said on Saturday that an air strike north of Baghdad had killed several insurgents with al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia, who were using heavy artillery and machine-guns to fire at US helicopters.
The strike occurred on Friday, west of Taji, where several US helicopters have been shot down in recent weeks. The assault destroyed at least two utility trucks with mounted machine-guns, a military spokesman said.
But he said the strike did not appear to eliminate the threat to US aircraft, because other weapons had been used against helicopters in Fallujah and other parts of the country.
A second air strike on Saturday destroyed a car-bomb factory in southern Baghdad, the US military said.

If for no other reason, we need to have US forces in Iraq to track down these men and their supporters and wipe them off the face of the earth.
Something I doubt we'll see or even hear mention of on the MSM. But can you imagine the number of re-runs we'd see if this was a video of coalition action?

Where is the outrage about this from the lefties in the US? Panties on someones head is a war crime but they respond with silence to this?
That picture immediately reminded me of pictures I have seen of Nazi atrocities. It is these sort of criminals that the "progressive" left has allied itself with.
I don't see libs lining up to "talk" to Al Qaeda. When pressed for their alternative plan to our current tactics and approach, they always whine "we should start a dialogue". But nobody seems to volunteer to be the one to go over for a visit. Wonder why?
The casual slaughtering while praising their moon goddess is a foretaste of the day of the anti-christ, when satan's servants will be even more open, if you can fathom that.
