Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards John Edwards' campaign, reacting to derogatory comments by conservative commentator Ann Coulter she called the former North Carolina senator and presidential hopeful a "faggot" is trying to turn it into a rallying point for fundraising, asking supporters to donate $100,000 in "Coulter Cash."
It was unclear from the statement on the Edwards campaign Web site what the money would exactly go to, but it did address the comments directly.

I'm sure the strategy has it's adherents, but calling Presidential candidates faggots is really stupid. From a political perspective. If you're selling books, it works.
What is really offensive here for me is the wimpy GOP candidates bowing to the Dem alter and criticizing Ann for telling the truth. This is like Pavlov's Dogs: Dems say jump, the GOP jumps. They can't even take a whiz in the bathroom without the Dem permission.
She didn't call Edwards a faggot.
She said, "It turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word "faggot"....
Well, it looks like Edwards has cornered the support of the homosexual wing of the Democrat Party. Now, if he can only gain the support of the even larger convicted felon wing of the party, he just might win the primaries and get the Democrat Party's nomination to run for President.
It's at times like this I cringe to think a fellow conservative would use this type of tactic to get attention. It's pretty demeaning for both sides, and beneath the standards of the party she supposedly represents.

...and great legs too....
The MSM has a great deal of power over the GOP, and a fair number of FReepers. You can always count on the MSM to bring to our attention issues of substance when reporting the news...
Coulter did not call the Breck Girl a faggot. I would do that but she did not.
If he gets $100K from each bathhouse, that could be quite a bit of money.
Yes, where are the media, Dems, GOP candidates on Bill Maher wishing Cheney had been assassinated? Where is the outrage?
*crickets chirping*
NEWSBUSTERS (3/3/2007): *****Update II: As of 1:30 PM EST, there are 504 articles at Google News concerning Ann Coulter's comments yesterday at CPAC about John Edwards. Regardless of your opinion of those comments, how can they be close to as offensive as someone voicing regrets over a failed assassination attempt on a sitting Vice President?
My guess? A modified assault purse, in case he ever runs into Ann and gets into a purse fight with her. Do you need a carry permit for one of those things?
It surprises you the left would take advantage of a comment like this?
The worst part is that Ann knew full well what the reaction to the comment would be. Republican candidates and CPAC would take a hit, a small one since this will be forgotten, and her stock as a radical would go up. One winner there.
What an insult to faggots everywhere.
This is so hypocritical. Coulter did nothing wrong and has nothing to apologize for.
Yes, but she represents Ann, not the Republican Party. That's why Republican candidates are distancing themselves.
