They took communion in a Catholic church. Roman Catholics do not have open communion, because unlike Protestant denominations they do not see the Eucharist as symbolic, but the actual, real presence of the body and blood of Christ. Only a few Eastern churches are able to take communion in the Catholic church.

Now, Bill Clinton claimed he didn't know, but in all the years that he was attending a Catholic private school in Arkansas, I am certain the matter came up, as his Catholic schoolmates would have taken communion in the school masses, but children from Southern Baptist homes, no matter how nice they were, would not have been allowed.

Of course, since Clinton is a liar on all things great and small, we should not be surprised by this, either.

Also Clinton attended four years at a Jesuit institution, Georgetown University. While Mass is certainly not compulsory at any Catholic university, the idea that communion is not offered to everyone had to have been noted by the one of the smartest men in the world. /s
