you are correct it was Blackie's house of beef...a shame that it's closed I loved that place when I lived there...it was an important place to my family

It was only a few blocks from where I lived in the District way back then. Great place to dine. Do you remember "The church of the Pilgrims"? Rock Creek Park? St. Mathews Cathedral? Dupont Circle was my stomping grounds, but wow has it changed it is loaded with Gay Bars now. Probably for Barney Frank's concubines.
