McCain-hating and Romney-bashing have been pretty much equal-opportunity pastimes around CPAC this year.
Rudy, on the other hand, has gotten mostly a free pass. And, today, his speech was filled to capacity with folks waiting in the hallway to get in. There were also dense crowds around all the TVs in the exhibit halls. The charm offensive is strong, indeed. People just love listening to him.
I took some video of conservatives quite mesmerized by the Mayor, so I'm working on getting that up. They were doing crowd control outside the hall in which he was speaking. Many of those folks crowding the hall are pro-life, social conservatives who just can't resist him, despite the policy differences. I don't think Rudy will remain unattacked, as he was this week, but the feel-good factor is big for him, no matter what kind of conservative he's talking to.
Today, he talked about leadership, security, toughness, and Reagan to a crowd who's looking for a leader in the image of Reagan in a time that needs security. It was a good pitch, and there were more people listening than have listened to anything at CPAC this week.

And one more thing: why do you think anyone cares about whether or not you still care about your guns anymore? Now that I know you a bit better, you seem like a self-centered elitist.
Bug off, and take Rudy with you.
Keep in mind-----the Rooty tooters are getting their orders from Borat---as Sacha Baron Cohen indicated to Rolling Stone, " you can tell those dumb Christians anything and they'll believe it. "
So no matter what truths and facts emerge----all must be eradicated so that the The Everything-For-Us-Nothing-For-Conservatives crowd can takeover the Repub party.
Man, the Tooty Tooters must get paid well to flack for Rooty---must be an awful job trying to make this lisping liberal twit look good.
Lovely. A bunch of starstruck, mesmerized groupies are going to select the nominee.
That this duo may only be defeated by "America's Mayor"? Any ideas as to who he might pick as his running-mate?
I don't think the criticism of Rudy has been lacking in intellectual honesty at all. The man's positions are a matter of clear public record, and he has done nothing to refute that record. At least Romney is pandering to the conservative wing of the Party. Rudy and many of his backers here are arrogantly saying, in effect: "We don't need or want those nasty social conservatives."
You really have nerve accusing others of intellectual dishonesty and unfairness. When has anyone in this country tried to force you to join any sect, or submit to its dogma, as you accused? Has Duncan Hunter, or any of the other genuine conservatives, forced you to submit to any religion? As for stifling debate: Opponents of Rudy have tried repeatedly to document his many failings, which specific data, and all many of us hear from his advocates are demogogic slogans and hateful abuse heaped on "religious" conservatives.
Enlightened and pragmatic debate is exactly what I am trying to promote, not childish, emotional slogans about how Rudy "talks tough" and "has street smarts." It's going to take a lot more than tough talk and street smarts to defeat Islamofascism or the other potential enemies we face. It's going to take sober, detailed expertise in national defense, which is a field Gingrich, Hunter, and others know and have fought for in Congress for years. It's going to take recognition of the alien problem as an invasion, which Rudy certainly lacks. It's going to take respect for our society and the threats it faces from domestic social Marxists who hate the entire American cultural tradition.
Then he's a flip-flopper. Some principles.
Giuliani did NOT support the PBA ban which included a provision for the life of the mother.
"Im pro-choice. Im pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. No, I have not supported that, and I dont see my position on that changing, he responded."

The man who "wasn't in charge of gun control issues" yanked the gun permits of **27,000** law abiding citizens.
Duly noted my friend.
I am going to vote for/work for Rudy if he is nominated. I can't say the same at this point about any of the others who will likely come close.
Hillary Clinton must be defeated. I dedicate my life to seeing that the scheming, miserable, manipulating, opportunistic, lying bitch does not get close to the Oval Office again.
Remember.....she is going to take things away from us for the national good.
You're right; Gore would have been so much better; I wish I had listened to you all back then.
Just as I thought, you're one of those "Ignorance Is Bliss" kinds.
Great post.
ROFLMAO. Good catch.
Actually it was "No New Taxes Bush" and "Bob Dole" that gave the country 8 years of Bill Clinton.
I feel bad for the unborn. At least our troops can defend themselves.
Truer words were never spoken.
If it walks like a gun-grabber, and talks like an abortionist, it's a liberal duck, even if it's in a dress.
If that is the worse mistake (if it even was) that he ever makes, then we are in good shape. I say keep it just like it is. Let's have all the talking heads on the media talking about it.
